bridging the gap
welcome to bridging the gap! or, bridging the gap between realities.
the name comes from this project's original intention — i wanted to work out a way to bridge the gaps between minecraft as a game, minecraft as a reality, and our own reality. so, bridging the gap (between realities)!
this is a website run by goldstargloww (starglowwOS on tumblr) for my notes on mcyt, the minecraft multiverse, and related.
i take a lot of them, for some reason, and others have found them helpful in the past, so i've decided to share them here :>
most of this comes from an obsidian vault i have. this site is more of a curated version of that, one that anyone can use
questions
what do you do?
as of now, i only have transcripts here, but i also take notes on characterization, lore explanation streams, servers and their rules, and some general worldbuilding (and more!).
my worldbuilding tries to be done in such a way that doesn't interfere with the stories i care about. think how martyn does his own lore — i just do it on a wider scale and try to make it fit more characters.
essentially, i don't want my worldbuilding headcanons to conflict with canon. some servers do have multiple canons, though, in which case i've just been picking one.
for evo and the life series, for example, i've picked martyn's eyesandears au, meaning here, eyesandears is referred to and treated as canon. i'm aware that this isn't the case universally, but it's a lot easier to do it this way, and it sticks to what i'm interested in.
what stories do you care about / are you interested in?
evo and the life series are probably my main two. for this, i consider eyesandears canon.
i also primarily follow powcreations servers, like pirates smp and rats smp — for this, i consider into the datastream canon as well as each server's story, though i mainly follow martyn's pov, so there's probably quite a bit i'll miss.
i also follow hermitcraft, though it's less lore heavy. i follow empires too, but not too closely (i've only watched scott's season 1 pov, and his and jimmy's season 2).
new life is also one i've followed — martyn and owen's povs mainly, but also some of scott and jimmy's.
in the past, i have watched dsmp, origins, and outsiders, but i don't have any notes on them. (origins is linked to rats smp and therefore datastream by proxy, but i don't keep track of much more than i need to there.)
